Valentine’s Day Perfect Dinner Menu

Here we are to help you with a great menu for your romantic dinner!

Tortilla de Patatas con Jamón y Champiñones

Solomillo de cerdo con salsa de vino tinto

Brownies Red Velvet

This menu is very easy! Even if you’re not a famous chef, we’re sure that you can make it! 😉

Here comes the real challenge for you: The receipts are all in Spanish, in this way you can also practice your Spanish vocabulary while you’re making a delicious dinner for your Amorcito! Get ready for this with our Andalusian food quiz and learn new words!

 

Starter: Spanish Omelette with Ham and Mushrooms

Ingredients:

Tortilla-de-patata• 3 Medium Potatoes

• 4 Eggs

• 1 Onion

• Serrano Ham, diced (60 gr)

• 150 gr Mushrooms

• 3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

• Pinch of Salt

• Pinch of Mixed Peppers

Instructions:

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into small pieces (preferably into slices or cubes).
  2. Slice the onion into thin rings.
  3. Peel, wash, and slice the mushrooms.
  4. Heat a skillet with two tablespoons of oil over medium heat.
  5. Add the potatoes and onion and cook for a few minutes.
  6. Add the diced ham and mushrooms.
  7. Continue cooking until the potatoes and other ingredients are soft.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the four eggs, add a little salt, and mix. Once beaten, add the potatoes, onion, mushrooms, and ham to the bowl with the eggs, and stir.
  9. Heat another skillet over medium heat with a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the mixture from the bowl.
  10. Cook over low heat and let it set on the bottom.
  11. When it’s set on the bottom, flip it using a lid slightly larger than the skillet.
  12. Cook for a few more minutes on this side until fully set. Once cooked, remove from the skillet.
  13. Cut the tortilla into appetizer-sized pieces.

 

Main Course: Pork Tenderloin

Ingredients:

solomillo-de-cerdo•2 pork tenderloin fillets (or you can also use pork loin)

• 1 grated onion

• 2 garlic cloves

• Half a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar

• 200 ml red wine

• A pinch of brown sugar

• 1 tablespoon of oil (or butter) for frying the fillets

• Black pepper • One teaspoon of cornstarch (or flour)

• A pinch of oregano

• 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Peel and cut the onions and garlic into very small pieces.
  2. Heat the skillet with oil, sauté the onion and garlic for three minutes.
  3. Remove them from the skillet with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  4. Season the fillets with salt and pepper. In the same oil where you sautéed the onions, cook the meat for about 3 minutes (if you like it medium). Then, remove it.
  5. Dissolve the cornstarch (or flour) in a glass of water.
  6. Pour the contents of the skillet (the oil and liquid released from the meat) into a container for the blender.
  7. Add the onions and garlic from the beginning to the blender and blend.
  8. Also, add the wine and the dissolved cornstarch (or flour).
  9. Place this mixture in a skillet over medium heat with a little oregano for a few seconds.
  10. Cover the skillet and cook for 4 minutes over low heat.
  11. Once the sauce is slightly creamy, add the fillets and cook over low heat for a minute.
  12. If you want, add some vegetables, roasted potatoes, or a bit of basmati rice to the meat (you can even buy these ready-made).

Ready! Let’s finish with dessert…

 

Dessert: Red Velvet Brownies

brownies-san-valentinIngredients for the BROWNIE LAYER:

• 125 gr unsalted butter

• 85 gr flour

• 225 gr sugar

• 50 gr unsweetened cocoa powder

• A pinch of salt

• One tablespoon of red food coloring

• One teaspoon of balsamic vinegar

• 2 eggs • 80 gr ground walnuts

• 225 gr chopped walnuts\

• One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Ingredients for the CREAM CHEESE LAYER:

•225 g cream cheese

• 60 g sugar

• 1 egg

• Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract

 

BROWNIE LAYER Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and grease a mold to prevent the brownie from sticking.
  2. Grind all the walnuts in a food processor.
  3. Sift the flour (pass it through a sieve).
  4. Melt the butter in a pot over medium heat and add sugar, vanilla, cocoa, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Dissolve all the sugar, then remove from heat.
  6. Add the red food coloring and a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar.
  7. Beat the eggs and add them to the mixture.
  8. Add the flour and chopped walnuts.
  9. Mix all the ingredients and add them to the mold.

Now, let’s move on to preparing the cream cheese layer…

CREAM CHEESE LAYER Preparation:

  1. Combine the cream cheese with sugar, egg, and vanilla in a bowl.
  2. Spread this mixture over the top of the brownie layer in the mold using a spatula.
  3. Cover the brownie layer completely with the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Create swirls with a fork on the cream cheese layer, allowing it to mix with the color of the brownie batter and create beautiful swirl
  5. Bake the mold for 30 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
  6. Allow it to cool: once it reaches room temperature, cut it using heart-shaped molds (you can find these molds at hardware stores or bazaar-type shops). If you don’t have them, no worries, you can cut them into squares or rectangles as well.

Great! Now you have your romantic Valentine’s Day brownies!
