We hope you’ll find these idioms useful and that they will help you reaching some positive attitude???? If you want to know more check out our alphabet of idioms which we ordered from A to M and from N to Z or funny idioms ! ????

1 – Lo que decidas hacer, asegúrate que te haga feliz

Whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy

Nothing is more important than happiness, which is why it’s crucial to know the things you enjoy and the things you don’t. Making decisions can be tricky at times, which is why if there was ever a life lesson to take notice of, it’s this: do what makes you feel good. This is a very important part of self care! Doing things that make you happy will in turn make you a more positive person.

2 – Si la vida te da limones, ¡pide sal y tequila!getting ready

If life gives you lemons, take it with salt and tequila!

That’s the spirit (literally)! Perhaps an even better mantra than making lemonade when times are tough is to down a shot! On a more serious note, the original saying is so popular because it’s true: we should make the best of the bad situations that come our way in life. Don’t focus on the fact that you have lemons – think about it from a more positive perspective and use the lemons to make something great.

3 -Como quien oye llover

Like water off a duck’s back/turn a deaf ear

This phrase literally translates to ‘like someone listening to the rain’, which is quite different from the English idiom! The meaning is the same though; it’s to not pay attention to something – often negativity and criticism. In life, we should face pessimistic thoughts ‘como quien oye llover’!

4- Algo es algo, menos es nada

It’s better than nothing

Word for word, the quote says ‘something is something, less is nothing’. The life lesson here is to not be ungrateful, or to not ‘look a gift horse in the mouth’ as some of us say. Be optimistic and make the best out of what you have, for it could always be worse. Don’t focus on the bad – focus on what’s good about the situation.

5 – Donde hay gana, hay maña

Where there’s a will, there’s a way

The direct translation of this quote is ‘where there is desire, there is ability’, but we normally refer to a will and a way. The main message is that if you want something bad enough in life, you will always be able to make it come true. Motivate yourself, think logically and it will happen. Being positive is a really effective way of working towards a goal.

We hope that these proverbs will help you to beat all the pesimism, struggle much better with all the obstacles which life gives you and of course that it will make you happier and give you a little smile on your face ???? Furthermore learning and knowing them as well as being able to use them will help you to master your Spanish and if you are interested in learning more then you are welcome to apply for our Intensive Spanish Course.
