Spanish speaking countries and capitals crossword activity

This activity consists of a crossword designed for learning and practicing the countries that speak Spanish.

We have created this activity in the form of a crossword so that the students can learn about the following 20 Hispanic countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, República Dominicana, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guinea Ecuatorial, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, España, Uruguay and Venezuela. To clarify, we haven’t included Puerto Rico because it is not a sovereign state.

Once the students have discovered which countries speak Spanish in this crossword, we have provided a second Spanish activity where they need to look for the flag that corresponds with each country, and find the name of the capital city for every Spanish speaking country.

The capitals of the different Spanish speaking countries which they have to write out in this activity are: Buenos Aires, Sucre, Santiago, Bogotá, San José, La Habana, Santo Domingo, Quito, San Salvador, Malabo, Ciudad de Guatemala, Tegucigalpa, Ciudad de México, Managua, Ciudad de Panamá, Asunción, Lima, Madrid, Montevideo and Caracas.

The aim of this activity is for the students to recognise through a crossword the countries that speak Spanish, and their capitals.
