A1 Spanish activity to practice ‘estar’ + the gerund in classes
The structure ‘estar’ + gerund in Spanish appears in the A1 syllabus, so we have prepared an activity for beginners’ Spanish students to practice in classes.
It’s a board game exercise in which we have incorporated images and numbers.
The students have to deduce the verb for every image, and transform it to the structure ‘estar’ + the gerund, using their imagination or finding the corresponding number with the information provided. They should respond to question in the title, for example, ‘’Nos pasamos llamando por teléfono x horas, o x días o x años’.
The verbs that match up with the images are: conducir, dormir, ver la tele, comer, leer, ir de compras, reír, ir al baño, afeitarse, caminar, poner la lavadora, besarse, trabajar, ducharse, llamar por teléfono, usar el transporte público, and cocinar.
The number of hours relating to every action is an estimate; although we have given the answers in the instructions, the students can think of their own ideas for times days and years.
